This extensive renovation project transformed a compartmentalized, outdated kitchen and dining area into a bright, contemporary, and highly functional open-concept living space for the homeowners in Rural Nova Scotia. The complete overhaul was necessary to modernize the aesthetic and create a flow suitable for contemporary family life. The transformation began with major demolition and structural work. The challenge involved removing a critical load-bearing wall between the kitchen and living room , which required carefully installed temporary structural support during the process. This demolition, along with the removal of a non-load-bearing dining room wall and an old plumbing stack chase, was crucial to achieving the open layout. Further demolition included the removal of all old cabinetry, appliances, countertops, built-in shelving, the existing hardwood flooring, and particularly the outdated wood-clad ceiling and light medallion.
