The character and charm of the old Halifax home was very important to the homeowners. We created a plan keeping that goal top-of-mind and preserved or mimicked several original and historic details.We matched the archway above the door to aĀ built-in shelf on the right, whichĀ gave the room moreĀ balance and symmetry. TheĀ old fireplace was given a modern updateĀ by painting the stonework white, while still keeping itās traditional lines. The contemporary black hearth flows seamlessly into the fireplace surround to keep your eye moving upward.Refinished hardwood floors throughout the main level unify the space. The space feels open and airy with itās soft grey walls and white details. Large white baseboards anchor the space and complete the room, giving it more texture and visual interest.
